Description Reformer 1 Instructor Training

Reformer 1 introduces you to the biomechanical foundation of the Pilates method and to the essential components of functional core strength, lumbopelvic and scapular stability, as well as assessing and correcting alignment and improving flexibility. Pre-Pilates exercises are included for teaching these key principles to your clients and classes. Reformer I includes an introduction to the Pilates Reformer, including set up and safety, beginning exercises, program sequencing and teaching tips for group classes. By the end of the course you will be able to teach a beginning Reformer class or personal training session.

Online Requirements:
If you are taking this course Online, you will need to have the access to the following equipment:

  • Reformer, Balanced Body preferred. Reformer should be in good working order with appropriate springs. Preferred BB Reformer spring configuration should include at least 3 Red, 1 Blue and 1 Yellow.
  • Sitting box with a safety strap,foot loops and handles required.
  • Note: Our Master Instructors are used to teaching and instructing on Balanced Body Reformers. Please note that if you do not have a Balanced Body Reformer the spring resistance, general feel, and overall exercise experience may vary.
  • Taking online courses: While we believe there is no better way to learn movement than in person, we understand that online is a good option for many. When taking a Reformer class online, you, and your Reformer, must be completely visible to the instructor, lighting must be good enough to see detailed movement, and your internet connection must be reliable as Balanced Body is not responsible for lost class hours if your connection is unstable.

Prerequisites:

  1. One year experience teaching movement
  2. Movement Principles
  3. 20 Pilates Reformer Classes completed

To become a fully qualified Balanced Body Reformer (ONLY) Instructor, students must complete the following:

    • Anatomy (minimum 12 hours)
    • Movement Principles – Course work and written test (16 hours)
    • Balanced Body Reformer 1 – Course work, written and practical test (16 hours)
    • Balanced Body Reformer 2 – Course work, written and practical test (16 hours)
    • Balanced Body Reformer 3 – Course work, written and practical test (16 hours)

30 Reformer Personal Sessions and 30 Observation Hours and 90 Student Teaching Hours

  • Pass the BB Final Reformer (ONLY) Test (Written and Practical)

Total hours for completion of Reformer program: 214 hours (not including anatomy)

Upon completion of all the requirements, a certificate of completion as a Balanced Body Reformer Instructor will be issued.
To become a fully qualified Balanced Body Mat and Reformer Instructor, students must complete the following:

      • Anatomy (minimum 12 hours)
      • Movement Principles – Course work and written test (16 hours)
      • Balanced Body Mat 1 – Course work, written and practical test (16 hours)
      • Balanced Body Mat 2 – Course work, written and practical test (16 hours)
      • Balanced Body Mat 3 – Course work, written and practical test (16 hours)
      • Balanced Body Reformer 1 – Course work, written and practical test (16 hours)
      • Balanced Body Reformer 2 – Course work, written and practical test (16 hours)
      • Balanced Body Reformer 3 – Course work, written and practical test (16 hours)

    20 Mat Personal Sessions and 15 Mat Observation Hours and 35 Mat Student Teaching Hours

    30 Reformer Personal Sessions and 30 Reformer Observation Hours and 90 Reformer Student Teaching Hours

  • Pass the BB Final Mat and Reformer Test (Written and Practical)

Total hours for completion of Mat and Reformer program: 332 hours (not including anatomy)


Upon completion of all the requirements, a certificate of completion as a Balanced Body Mat and Reformer Instructor will be issued.

Cancellation Policy Cancellation Policy & Merchandise Returns

    Cancellation of your class will incur the following fees:

  • $100.00 fee if written notice of cancellation is received by Balanced Body up to five (5) days before class start date or a $50.00 transfer fee to transfer from one course to another.
  • $250.00 or the full course fee, whichever is less, if written notice of cancellation is received by Balanced Body within five (5) days before class start date or a $50.00 transfer fee to transfer from one course to another.
  • No refund is given for any cancellation received on or after the start date of the training.
  • Instructor Training Manuals and Videos are non-refundable.
  • NOTE: These policies may not apply to any training offered outside the USA.
